This edition, titled ‘Fine Honeyed Notes’, focuses on the sweeter flavours within the Johnnie Walker range, with some of the 100 casks coming from four closed grain distilleries – Caledonian, Cambus, Carsebridge and Port Dundas.
John Walker & Sons is the premium extension of the Johnnie Walker brand. This is the third edition of the Private Collection, and this 2016 bottling highlights the “Fine Honeyed Notes” achievable with Johnnie Walker blends.

The grain whiskies used hail from Cameronbridge, Caledonian, Cambus, Carsebridge and Port Dundas, four of which are now closed. New for 2018, but not scheduled for release in Australia is this new JW expression, inspired by the iconic Black Label. It’s No.7 in the experimental series, and set exclusively for Travel Retail. The 12-year-old blend is described as “a smooth-sipping dark whisky with notes of vanilla and smoke, raisins and a warming finish of dark chocolate”. Composed of whiskies from Blair Athol, Cardhu and Strathmill distilleries, among others and finished in former Sherry casks for up to nine months, it was a collaborative effort between whisky maker, Aimée Gibson and Johnnie Walker’s Master Blender, Jim Beveridge.
With previous bottlings including wine and rum cask finishes, and even an Espresso Roast expression, Blenders’ Batch whiskies are the result of over a hundred ongoing experiments. At this price you can afford to buy one to collect and another to drink – perfect on its own or mixed with ginger ale.

The expression draws on up to 18 whiskies from Scotland’s main whisky making regions, including classic Speyside malts from Cardhu, Glen Elgin and Auchroisk bringing a sweet and elegant character. It’s been a big year of releases for Johnnie Walker as it celebrates its 200th Anniversary. Back in July, the blended Scotch brand unveiled three limited edition Whiskies: Blue Label Legendary Eight, Celebratory Blend, and Bicentenary Blend as well as a limited edition bottle design. Each anniversary release celebrates part of the famed brand’s two century journey. All four releases are expected to hit shelves across the globe in October.

A bottle of Johnnie Walker produced in 2006 and presented to employees of Diageo, Kilmarnock, to celebrate 50 years of manufacturing at the Hill Street site. This is presented in a crystal decanter with stopper.

The Illustrations were commissioned for the limited edition packaging of Johnnie Walkers Black Label and Double Black city range, Printed on a metallic substrate, the rich colours and warm glows emanate from the packs to invite the viewer in.
How did you make this work:
Each Illustration was a massive undertaking with most of the PSD files ending up with over 2000 layers, every item on every pack consists of three layers each with a different colour, the glow the gold and the purple for example all blending into each other. the main trick of all the illustrations was getting the perspective of the different landmarks and buildings to work together.
