Isle Of Jura 18 Year Old (70cl, 42%)

    85

A special release of Isle of Jura’s 18-year-old whisky, originally only available in travel retail. It was initially matured in American-oak ex-bourbon casks before a finish in ‘Premier grand cru classĂ© barriques’ – casks that used to hold top-end Bordeaux wine. Master blender Richard Paterson knows his wine casks, and here he’s added layers of rich spice and soft red fruit to Jura’s malty and spicy spirit.

A 1989 vintage single malt which hails from the Isle of Jura! After it was distilled, it was laid to rest in American white oak bourbon barrels, where it stayed until 2019. After that point, it was bottled at 53.5% ABV for the Rare Vintage series, with the limited 1,500 bottles accompanied by a very classy presentation box. Did you know that on Jura there are more deer than people? What a terrifying prospect.
