We call it the “diplomatic brandy” as ARARAT Dvin has accompanied so many historic meetings of world significance. Since the 1940s, this brandy has been produced according to the original recipe and to a stronger ABV of 50%. Once blended, we keep this brandy in barrels for 3 more years. This gives its structured bouquet an excellent balance of power and tenderness, while the tart flavour acquires special notes of oak character that linger in a long, dry aftertaste.
Cognac is a variety of brandy named after the town of Cognac, France. It is produced in the surrounding wine-growing region in the departments of Charente and Charente-Maritime.
Cognac production falls under French appellation d’origine contrôlée designation, with production methods and naming required to meet certain legal requirements. Among the specified grapes, Ugni blanc, known locally as Saint-Emilion, is most widely used. The brandy must be twice distilled in copper pot stills and aged at least two years in French oak barrels from Limousin or Tronçais. Cognac matures in the same way as whiskies and wines barrel age, and most cognacs spend considerably longer “on the wood” than the minimum legal requirement.
Brandy is a spirit produced by distilling wine. Brandy generally contains 35–60% alcohol by volume (70–120 US proof) and is typically drunk as an after-dinner digestif. Some brandies are aged in wooden casks. Others are coloured with caramel colouring to imitate the effect of aging, and some are produced using a combination of both aging and colouring. Varieties of wine brandy can be found across the winemaking world. Among the most renowned are Cognac and Armagnac from southwestern France.
In a broader sense, the term brandy also denotes liquors obtained from the distillation of pomace (yielding pomace brandy), or mash or wine of any other fruit (fruit brandy). These products are also called eau de vie (which translates to “water of life”).

Hennessy XXO Cognac A Classy Gift Box 1L, 40%
This product is only available in the US through Duty Free shops (travel retail).
The cognac Hennessy X.X.O was first created in 1870 alongside Hennessy X.O, when Master Blender Emile Fillioux set aside eaux-de-vie with great potential. The result was such a significant find that it was launched around the world, starting in 1871. With the savoir-faire inherited by his family, Yann Fillioux, 7th generation of Master Blender, decided to re-create the Hennessy X.X.O in 2018.
Hennessy X.X.O opens a new era within the world of spirits, an edge bridging duality: a powerful structure meets an aerial fineness. Its visionary taste assembles opposite forces into one composition. By tasting a glass of Hennessy X.X.O cognac, you will enter an aerial structure that opens yourself to a new perspective of tastes.
Delicately pour 4 cl in a tumbler glass. Take time to observe and appreciate all the tones of the blend. Bring it closer to your nose, without inhaling too abruptly, and discover the heady perfumes. Take the opening sip of a rich tasting. Relax in a comfortable chair, and let your long day unfold. You can now continue to explore the cognac taste with another sip. It has the rich, expressive nose that is the hallmark of a visionary. The long finish characteristic of rare cognacs is highlighted by a delightful nuance of spicy complexity. Its aromatic landscape ranges from vegetal to spicy, with notes of bitter orange and freshly grated nutmeg, licorice stick, dried peppermint leaf and delicate spices.
This Hors d’Age bottling is based on an expression first debuted in 1870. Recreated in 2018 by 7th Generation Master Blender Yann Fillioux, this assembleage is drawn from som of the finest reserves held in the Houses chais.

Hine Antique XO Grande Champagne Cognac 70cl, 40%
A celebration of both old and new: Hine’s XO Antique Grande Champagne Cognac
Blended with eaux-de-vie exclusively from the premier cru, Grande Champagne, this Hine XO Antique Grande Champagne Cognac is innovation, a relic from the times of Georges Hine brought to life for the modern Cognac connoisseur. The recipe was developed in 1920 by Hine himself, and was relaunched in 2010 by the Cognac house as a single cru XO. The 40 different Grande Champagne eaux-de-vie have been aged for a minimum of 10 years in traditional French Limousin oak casks, a homage to Hine’s heritage and the Cognac house’s history of fine craftsmanship.
This traditional XO with a modern design is a celebration of both old and new, a new and exciting experience in the present that simultaneously pays its respects to the past. This elegant XO releases aromas of sweet vanilla, ripe green fruits with some delicate earthy tones punctuating the sweet and fruity notes, a perpetual play between fruit and oak.
On the palate, the warming sensation of spices only serves to enhance and lift the sweet and exotic vanilla, complemented by notes of hazelnut and quince. Accents of fig tart and blonde tobacco also present themselves on the palate in a long and lingering finish. This XO may not boast a typical flavor profile for a Grande Champagne blend, but it certainly proves why this region is considered the premier cru with its complexity and depth of character.

Hennessy James Hennessy Cognac 1L, 40%
The Hennessy distillery is based in Cognac, France. The company was founded in 1765 by Richard Hennessy and is now run by the eighth generation. The officer emigrated from Ireland to Cognac and founded the company “Jas Hennessy & Co” at that time. The cognac of Richard Hennessy quickly gained a high reputation and became known worldwide.
For the production the own grown grapes from the region of Cognac are used. After double distillation in copper stills, pure eaux-de-vie is produced, which serves as the basis for the cognacs.
This bottling was launched in 2015, on the 250th anniversary of the House of Hennessys, to pay homage to James Hennessy, the eldest son, Richard Hennessys.
James Hennessy is a true adventurer and constantly tries to expand his horizons by travelling.
To give this blend an additional new touch, a collaboration with the international designer Marc Newson was entered. (automated translation)
