Before anything else is said, it’s important to clarify something here first – there is no Deveron distillery. The Deveron and Glen Deveron Scotch whisky brands are both created at Macduff Distillery, and both were named in reference to the River Deveron, which runs alongside the distillery. It was under previous distillery owners Martini Rossi that a range of single malts were developed and released under the name Glen Deveron, to appeal to the Italian market’s love of young, fresh malts.

The Deveron did not appear as a brand until October 2015, long after Martini Rossi sold the distillery to Bacardi in 1992. It was Bacardi who transferred the distillery to John Dewar and Sons, who created The Deveron, marking the first time in the distillery’s history that there has been a range of expressions widely available from Macduff Distillery, which includes The Deveron 10 Year Old, 12 Year Old and 18 Year Old.
