A blended whiskey (or blended whisky) is the product of blending different types of whiskeys and sometimes also neutral grain spirits, colorings, and flavorings. It is generally the product of mixing one or more higher-quality straight or single malt whiskey with less expensive spirits and other ingredients. This typically allows for a lower priced finished product, although expensive “premium” varieties also exist.
Some examples of blended whiskey include Canadian Mist, Jameson Irish Whiskey, Seagram’s Seven, Kessler Whiskey, the premium Japanese brand Hibiki, and the various Scotch whisky blends sold under the Johnnie Walker brand.

A very rare Decanter of Johnnie Walker produced to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Diageo’s facility on Hill Street in Kilmarnock which was only issued to long serving employees of the company.
A bottle of Johnnie Walker produced in 2006 and presented to employees of Diageo, Kilmarnock, to celebrate 50 years of manufacturing at the Hill Street site. This is presented in a crystal decanter with stopper.

This is an incredible 38 year old blended whisky from Chivas, named for the Stone of Destiny – a block of red sandstone used in the coronations of the monarchs of Scotland and later the monarchs of the United Kingdom.

The Royal Salute 29 Year Old Pedro Ximénez Sherry Cask Finish edition pays tribute to Queen Elizabeth II’s first official visit to Spain in 1988. As a result, the packaging design, decorated in the style of the decorative street tiling of Madrid, pays tribute to the colourful and poetic Spanish architecture. Royal Salute Master Blender Sandy Hyslophas captured the richness of this exquisite sweet wine while keeping the unique Royal Salute signature firmly at the heart of the blend.

A ceramic decanter from Royal Doulton containing 75cl of Famous Grouse blended Scotch whisky. We estimate this was produced in the 1980s. The single malt whiskies used in The Famous Grouse blend include the Edrington-owned Highland Park and The Macallan. Its emblem is the Red Grouse, Scotland’s national game bird.

The Ghost and Rare series from Johnnie Walker Blue Label kicked off in 2017 and took a break last year.
Diageo’s Johnnie Walker brand is readying the release of the fourth in its Ghost and Rare series of bottlings from the Blue Label expression.
A tribute to the now-defunct Pittyvaich distillery on Speyside, the no-age-statement blended malt will be available from next month in limited numbers. Whisky from two other closed distilleries, Port Dundas and Carsebridge, features in the blend along with liquid from Speyside’s Mannochmore, Auchroisk, Cragganmore and Strathmill as well as Royal Lochnagar in the Highlands.
Pittyvaich opened in 1974 before closing its doors 18 years later.
When contacted by Just Drinks, a spokesperson for Diageo declined to give specific quantities of the bottling, citing commercial sensitivity. However, each bottle will be “individually numbered”, according to the brand owner.
Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost & Rare Pittyvaich follows 2017’s Brora bottling, Port Ellen from a year later and 2019’s Glenury Royal in the series.

This is a 23 years old blended whisky. The blended includes whisky from Cragganomore and Linkwood as well as the now silent Glasgow grain distillery of Port Dundas.
A stunning, special edition Johnnie Walker & Sons XR 23 Year Old created from some of the finest malts and grains available, including some rare whisky from the Brora distillery. It’s a well-spiced, wintery expression that brings indulgent notes of sticky toffee, Christmas cake, alcohol soaked raisins and subtle layers of vanilla that marry perfectly with cinnamon spice and gentle cardamom. This all comes packaged inside a stunning bottle and box that would look the part in any collection. A real delight.
This deep purple decanter of Royal Salute is aged 23 years, and was blended and bottled specially for the Taiwanese market. The exclusive release is a tribute to the natural beauty of Formosa Island.
The packaging was designed by award-winning artist Ching-Wei Liu.
Keeping with tradition, Royal Salute will launch the Royal Salute Diamond Jubilee Limited Edition to celebrate the Queen’s 60 year reign. Indeed, 2,500 initial decanters were filled on the day of her coronation, the 2nd of June 1953.
