Description

Highland Park Earl Haakon 18 Year Old 1993 Edition 3 70cl, 54.9% is a limited Orkney single malt distilled in 1993 and bottled in 2011. Officially released in July 2011, it completed Highland Park’s three-part Inga Saga Trilogy following Earl Magnus and Saint Magnus.

Named after Haakon Paulsson, the cousin and rival of Saint Magnus, this final edition represents the darker conclusion to the historical series. The whisky matured for 18 years in hand-selected first-fill and refill sherry casks, developing concentrated fruit, spice and mature oak alongside Highland Park’s characteristic aromatic peat.

Redcurrant jam, damson and pomegranate lead towards dark chocolate, ginger, cinnamon, tobacco and charred oak. Bottled at natural cask strength, without chill filtration and with natural colour, only 3,300 bottles were released worldwide.

Why Choose Highland Park Earl Haakon 18 Year Old 1993 Edition 3 70cl, 54.9%

This expression combines a clear 1993 vintage, an 18-year age statement and rich sherry-cask maturation with Highland Park’s distinctive coastal peat. Its position as the third and final Inga Saga release makes it especially important for collectors completing the trilogy.

The 54.9% natural cask strength provides excellent concentration, texture and depth. Taste it neat first, then add a few drops of water to reveal additional red fruit, custard, dark chocolate, spice and softer aromatic smoke.

Its limited 3,300-bottle production, black glass bottle and substantial black wooden presentation case provide exceptional gifting, display and collector appeal. Original examples also included an illustrated booklet explaining the story of Earl Haakon.

Ideal For.

Ideal for Highland Park collectors and experienced whisky drinkers who enjoy red berries, plum, dark chocolate, tobacco, warming spice and smoky coastal peat.

Serve neat in a tulip-shaped glass before gradually adding water. It pairs well with dark chocolate, fruitcake, smoked meats, roasted nuts and mature cheese.
