Description

Highland Park Saint Magnus 12 Year Old Edition 2 70cl, 55% is a limited Orkney single malt distilled in 1998 and bottled in 2010. It became the second expression in Highland Park’s three-part Inga Saga Trilogy, following Earl Magnus and preceding Earl Haakon.

Named after Magnus Erlendsson, the Earl of Orkney who was later canonised, this release reflects an important part of the islands’ Norse history. Its distinctive brown bottle and period-style label were inspired by a Highland Park bottle dating from approximately 150 years earlier.

The whisky matured predominantly in Spanish sherry oak, with approximately 20% first-fill casks. Orange, baked apple, honey and chocolate lead towards cinnamon, ginger, liquorice and smoky peat. Bottled at natural cask strength, without chill filtration and with natural colour, only 11,994 bottles were released worldwide.

Why Choose Highland Park Saint Magnus 12 Year Old Edition 2 70cl, 55%

This expression offers a powerful sherry-influenced interpretation of Highland Park’s Orkney character. Spanish oak contributes dried fruit, chocolate, leather and warming spice, while the distillery’s heather-rich peat creates a dry, smoky and distinctly coastal balance.

Its 55% natural cask strength provides excellent intensity, texture and depth. Taste it neat first, then add a few drops of water to reveal additional heather honey, marzipan, baked apple, bitter orange and softer earthy smoke.

The limited 11,994-bottle release, 1998 vintage and position as the second Inga Saga expression provide strong collector appeal. Its hand-finished vintage-style bottle and open-front wooden presentation case also make it particularly impressive for gifting and display.

Ideal For.

Ideal for Highland Park collectors and experienced whisky drinkers who enjoy orange, baked apple, honey, dark chocolate, cinnamon, liquorice and robust aromatic peat smoke.

Serve neat in a tulip-shaped glass before gradually adding water. It pairs well with dark chocolate, apple tart, fruitcake, roasted nuts, smoked meats and mature cheese.
