Description
Lagavulin 8 Year Old 70cl, 48% is a bold Islay single malt from Lagavulin Distillery, offering a younger, brighter and more energetic expression of this famous smoky whisky style. Originally introduced to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Lagavulin, it was inspired by Alfred Barnard’s historic praise of an 8-year-old Lagavulin during his visit to the distillery in the 1880s.
This whisky shows a cleaner and more direct side of Lagavulin compared with the richer 16 Year Old. The profile is fresh, smoky and maritime, with lemon citrus, milk chocolate, cereal sweetness, sea salt, ash, pepper and fragrant peat smoke. The 48% strength gives it excellent body and intensity, making the whisky feel powerful without losing balance.
Matured in refill American and European oak barrels, Lagavulin 8 Year Old keeps the distillery character at the front. The oak supports the whisky with gentle sweetness and structure, while the smoke, salt and coastal dryness remain unmistakably Lagavulin. Presented with its original cream-coloured box, this is a strong choice for Islay drinkers, Lagavulin fans and collectors of official distillery bottlings.
Why Choose Lagavulin 8 Year Old 70cl, 48%
This release stands out because it offers Lagavulin’s famous peat smoke in a brighter and more youthful style. It is less sherried and less heavy than the 16 Year Old, but it delivers excellent energy, maritime freshness and smoky intensity.
For drinkers, it offers a powerful 48% Islay experience with lemon, cereal, milk chocolate, sea salt, pepper and clean peat smoke. For collectors, the connection to Lagavulin’s 200th anniversary story and original presentation box make it an attractive bottle within the modern Lagavulin range.
