Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage 2004

The 2004 Brut Grand Vintage bursts from the glass with layers of rich, tropical fruit. A big, boisterous wine, the 2004 is not shy, that’s for sure. Expressive yellow fleshed fruits, smoke, spices and pastry are some of the many nuances that take shape in this broad-shouldered wine. The 2004 settles down a bit with air, but never loses its essentially extroverted, flashy personality.

For the vintage, the oldest vineyards are usually chosen, including Les Vignes de Saran, in the Côte des Blancs on a coteaux near the Château de Saran, former residence of Jean-Rémy Moët. And it was he who bought the vineyard in 1801, to which was added six years later Les Champs de Romont, at the foot of the Montagne de Reims, between Mailly and Sillery.
