Chateau Gigognan Chateauneuf-du-Pape Clos Du Roi 75cl, 14.5%

48.00

Available : instock

Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre have their roots deep within the bedrock, contributing to the exceptional qualities of this wine. Hand-picked, very low yields, and 18 months of maturation in tuns and barrels create an exceptional result!

GRAPE VARIETIES Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre SOIL / CLIMATE

Located on the lower and middle terraces of Châteauneuf du Pape. Clay-limestone soil covered with rolled pebbles.
The climate is Mediterranean, subject to two dry seasons (one in winter and a longer summer) and two rainy seasons (brutal in autumn depending on the vintage and more clement in spring). Finally, the presence of the Mistral wind throughout the year constitutes a powerful ally for the cultivation of the vines.

VINIFICATION

Hand-picked with rigorous sorting in the vineyard and in our cellars. Partially destemmed grapes are fermented by plot (10 to 15% whole bunches in some vats) and fermented at controlled temperature in concrete tulip vats. Gentle extraction with light pumping over and punching down. Hot post-fermentation maceration lasting up to two weeks. Blended after malolactic fermentation, aged in barrels (20%) and foudres (30%) for 12 months, then 6 months in concrete vats

Description

Tasting Note

This wine has a beautiful cherry red color. Its expressive and flattering nose of red fruits and its ample and progressive palate, without heaviness, make it a delicious, subtle and sensual wine. The aging notes perfect the balance to offer an airy and luminous ensemble.

TASTING ADVICE

A distinguished wine that can be served with red meats, game and strong cheeses.

Special mention for the hare à la royale.

We recommend tasting it at 18°C.
