Tasting Note
Nose: Clean and coastal. Smoked sea salt, lemon rind, and crushed seashells. Beneath the brine, smouldering driftwood, smoked herbs, and a trace of iodine. Subtle sweetness—barbecued pineapple and salted caramel—lingers at the edges.
Palate: Robust and elemental. Bonfire smoke and black pepper crash in, followed by grilled citrus, charred oak, and maritime oiliness. Ash, menthol, and kiln-dried peat swirl in a bold, structured body. Water softens the burn but not the backbone.
Finish: Long and smouldering. Smoked tea leaves, eucalyptus, and salted dark chocolate linger with a dry, smoky persistence.
Overall: A powerful, coastal dram that captures Caol Ila’s signature clarity and elegance—even under the weight of cask strength. Peat with precision, fire with finesse.
