Aberlour 12 Year Old Non Chill Filtered 70cl, 48%
Non Chill-Filtered is an interesting variant on Aberlour’s usual 12 year old whisky, not only changing the proportions of different whiskies that are used to make the expression, but also leaving it un-chillfiltered. This means that it retains the full body and flavour of the whisky from the cask, although it may go cloudy if water is added or it gets cold.
Balvenie 14 Year Old Caribbean Cask (70cl, 43%)
This whisky has been matured for 14 years in traditional oak casks before being transferred to Caribbean rum casks to impart some extra flavour. This process has created a well-rounded and drinkable whisky with notes of fruit and vanilla.
Balvenie 15 Year Old Madeira Cask 70cl, 43%
The Balvenie Madeira Cask is a lively and summery single malt finished in casks previously which previously held Madeira wine.
In historic times, ships set sail filled with casks of Madeira wine around the New World. Throughout their journey, casks were exposed to the heat of the sun, naturally sweetening the wine it held.
Malt Master David C. Stewart has enjoyed times exploring the Madeira region and wines they produce, inspiring his experimentation of the cask type for finishing.
This is not the first time David has used Madeira casks – previous expressions have been of older ages. This release has a lighter, livelier character.

Bowmore 15 Year Old Sherry Finish (70cl, 43%)
Matured first in bourbon barrels then Oloroso casks, there’s no finer example of a sherry cask finish than our 15 Year Old. It’s the final three years spent in Oloroso sherry casks that gives Bowmore 15 Year Old the rich, deep colour and robust warming finish.
Bruichladdich The Classic Laddie (70cl, 50%)
Created by Jim McEwan from whisky matured in American oak casks alongside Lochindaal, and chosen to represent the classic, unpeated distillery style. Bruichladdich’s new signature bottling is made with 100% Scottish barley.
Christmas Cake & Dark Chocolate & Medjool Dates & Cinnamon & Sherry Casks & Cask Strength 12 Year Old Batch 03 (70cl, 55.6%)
Festive flavours like Christmas cake, dark chocolate, medjool dates, and cinnamon are the name of the game here. And by “name of the game”, we of course mean that Christmas Cake & Dark Chocolate & Medjool Dates & Cinnamon is literally the name of this whisky. What we’ve got is a superb Speyside single malt Scotch whisky, aged for eight years and boasting a sleighful of Yuletide elements, perfect for enjoying… Well, yeah, it’ll obviously be brilliant at Christmas, and any whisky fan will be thrilled to find a bottle under the tree with their name on it. It’ll probably be great any time of year if you’re a lover of sherried single malt, thinking about it, but it does have that little bit of holly on the label, so, y’know, Christmas and that.
Cutty Black 100 Proof (70cl, 50%)
Undoubtedly anything but a classic whiskey, already on the nose can be seen that you can expect here neither a single malt nor a boring standard blend. As a liquorice friend who appreciates sweet, sticky liquorice liquor almost 😉 as well as a beautiful Irishman or a hefty sweet Scot, I recognize the best of both worlds here. As a whiskey, I would give the Cutty Sark Black no 30 points, but he is too little “pure”, too little deep, not enough aromatic. As an alcoholic liquorice drink, however, the 77 points that I simply give out here are more than just earned.

Dalmore 12 Year Old (70cl, 40%)
Launched in late 2008 to replace the previous 12 year old, this single malt from the Dalmore distillery is a toasty, coffee-rich dram with beautifully spice notes and a thick mouthfeel. Very rich for a 12 year old.
Dalmore Cigar Malt (1L, 44%)
Dalmore Cigar Malt was discontinued in mid-2009, causing uproar among all right-thinking, cigar-smoking whisky fans. This dram used to sit above the 12, and below the 15 in terms of both the price-point, and the age-profiles of the whisky that went into the blend, but the new version is a little different.
The whiskies that make up the reworked cigar malt are slightly older, which has pushed up the price somewhat.
But it’s a great whisky, whether you drink with its intended purpose in mind or not. And if you do enjoy cigars, you’ll want to know that the stick that provided the flavour benchmark for pairing is the hefty Partagas Serie D No. 4.
Deanston Kentucky Cask Matured 70cl, 40%
This funky looking bottle contains Deanston whisky with an emphasis very much on the Bourbon cask provenance.
The Highland distillery’s spirit has been aged a combination of first and second fill former Bourbon casks, before being treated to “soft filtration” and bottled.
The result is a light, crisp dram with notes of bright Bourbon oak, creamy grain, malt, vanilla, apples, pears, light pineapple, toffee, butter, a little peppery cinnamon spice and some honey.
The back label suggests enjoying this dram “any damn way you like”, highlighting its potential as a mixing malt. Indeed, we reckon this dram would do brilliantly served over ice with lemonade or cream soda.
