Douglas Laing unleashed a second cask strength limited edition of its Scallywag Speyside vatted malt which they originally launched back in 2013, this was followed by a limited release cask strength expression in June 2015. It appears that the cask strength version has been rather popular so the folks at Douglas Laing have announced the release of Scallywag Cask Strength Limited Edition No.2.
The 2nd Limited Edition release has been created using an impressive line up Speyside Single Malts, including those distilled at Mortlach, Macallan and Glenrothes Distilleries. A limited release of just 4800 bottles are available worldwide, a number that is proudly displayed on the product’s gift tube.

Tasting Note
Colour: Cask Strength Scallywag has a deep, dark colour – extracted from the many fine Spanish Sherry Butts selected.
Nose: It carries a rich, orange marmalade character, complemented by cinnamon and warm ginger.
Taste: On the big, chewy palate, detect warningly spiced apple and rhubarb crumble, with a distinct coffee note. Vanilla from our specially selected bourbon hogshead casks becomes apparent too, alongside a sweet raisin and fudge quality.
Finish: The long and fruity finish displays dark chocolate and toasted oaks against a sweet and juicy backdrop.
