The Hine Mariage expression was created in 1991 in celebration of the 200th wedding anniversary of Thomas Hine and Françoise Elisabeth (that’s three-and-a-bit diamond anniversaries, in case you were wondering what to get them). In fact, the Cognac’s full name is ‘Mariage de Thomas Hine’. It is a blend of 12 superb vintages of Cognac, stretching as far back as the 1920s. Hine Mariage comes in a beautiful Baccarat crystal decanter.

In 1791, Thomas Hine left Dorset to learn French, but got rather more than he bargained for – he fell in love with Francoise Elizabeth, the daughter and heiress of a great Cognac family. This famous ‘Mariage de Thomas Hine’ bottling, presented in an iconic Baccarat crystal decanter by the company that still bears his name, was released in 1991 to celebrate the great man’s 200th wedding anniversary.
