“Ballantine’s 21 Year Old American Oak is the ultimate expression of American Oak cask influence. We use only rare and exquisite whiskies and nose each cask to ensure a balance between wood and whisky that results in a distinguished blend” said Ballantine’s Master Blender Sandy Hyslop.
Whisky (or whiskey) is produced in various guises all over the world. Japanese Whisky, Irish Whiskey and American Whiskeys (including Bourbon) are challenging Scotch Whisky, with of them many winning notable awards and accolades. Meanwhile, whiskies from countries as diverse as India, Canada, Sweden, Wales, Taiwan and England are also becoming increasingly noteworthy in both quality and abundance.
The distillation process spread to Scotland and Ireland by the 15th century via Alexandrian Greeks, Medieval Arabs and Latin Europeans. The Scots and the Irish, who already had a well-developed tradition of farming cereal crops, used the technique to distil from a variety of fermented grain mashes to produce a spirit, most closely resembling today’s new make spirits.
The process of distilling fermented grain mash and aging it in oak barrels to make Whisky (or whiskey) has spread the world and has resulted in a remarkable range of styles, including Single Malt Whisky, Blended Malt Whisky, Grain Whisky, Rye Whiskey and Blended Whisky (containing both Single Malt Whisky and Grain Whisky).

Honoring Jess Motlow, the Master Distiller from 1911 to 1941, this bottle was initially released with the incorrect date printed on the bottle, showing 1911 to 1944. Making its debut in September of 2012, this current series of bottles celebrates the 7 Master Distillers throughout the history of the Jack Daniel Distillery. Available in 2 sizes (750ml & 1L), each bottle is filled with 86 proof whiskey. They are also each individually numbered and sold in a collectible box. Jack Daniels McLaren Formula 1 Team Edition 2023 70cl, 40%
In September, we reported on the new partnership between whiskey brand Jack Daniel’s and Formula 1 team McLaren Racing. And now the first quaffable example of this relationship has arrived in the form of a new special limited-edition bottle with a design that is both recognizable and new.
The whiskey inside the new Jack Daniel’s McLaren Racing limited-edition bottle is the same Old No. 7 you know and love—charcoal mellowed Tennessee whiskey with a mashbill of 80 percent corn, 8 percent rye, and 12 percent malted barley, bottled at the standard 80 proof. But the new label and box are meant to honor the founders of both companies—Jack Daniel’s himself and Bruce McLaren. The Jack Daniel’s name was officially registered with the government back in 1866, while McLaren Racing was founded nearly a century later in 1963. Jack has become one of the biggest whiskey brands in the entire world, while McLaren was won many races, including 20 Formula 1 World Championships.
“McLaren and Jack Daniel’s are two of the most iconic brands known around the world, and we’re excited to celebrate our partnership with a special bottle that nods to our shared spirit of independence, authenticity and boldness,” said Jack Daniel’s senior vice president and global managing director, Sophia Angelis, in a statement. “We have been working with the McLaren team to develop unparalleled experiences for both racing and whiskey fans, and we can’t wait to share more on what we have in store.” “In our 60th year we are marking our team’s great legacy, started by Bruce McLaren,” added Louise McEwen, McLaren’s executive director of brand and marketing. “This limited-edition bottle is another fantastic way to share these celebrations with our fans, remembering both Bruce and Jack—two distinguished founders.”
This new bottle will drop in May, so if you’re a fan of F1 racing and Tennessee whiskey keep your eyes peeled—the brand says it will be available in “select Formula 1 markets across the globe.”

Glenlivet Cipher (70cl, 48%)
Back in 2013 The Glenlivet released a whisky called Alpha with no tasting notes, no cask details and an opaque black bottle. ‘Twas quite good fun as everybody tried to guess the production technique used, before the eventual reveal (on that occasion they’d used casks conditioned with Scotch as opposed to bourbon or Sherry, unique for The Glenlivet).
Now it seems we’re being treated to a new mystery, a cipher, in fact! Master Distiller Alan Winchester once again invites us to decipher the secrets of a unique single malt…

Glenlivet 12 Year Old Illicit Still (70cl, 48%)
The story of The Glenlivet is an interesting one. Way back in the 1800s, founder George Smith managed to illegally distil his whisky in a remote Glenlivet Valley cottage using hand-crafted copper stills. To make it great, he evaded lawmen while smuggling his creation across the Scottish Highlands and the legacy lives on. After enduring the Great Depression and WWII to become one of the most acclaimed whisky brands available, the Scottish icon is now celebrating that rebellious history with The Glenlivet 12 Year Old Illicit Still.
This release is the first in a yearly limited edition series celebrating The Glenlivet’s past, each boasting new flavours and designs. The 12 Year Old Illicit Still itself is non-chill filtered and in keeping with drinks of old; has a higher than average ABV of 48%. You can enjoy it immediately, add it to your collection, save for the most special occasions or age it decades further as a collector’s item to sell down the track.
An echo of one man’s persistence in the face of mounting challenges, The Glenlivet 12 Year Old Illicit Still reminds us all to stay true to what you believe in. The Glenlivet 12 Year Old Illicit.
Glenfiddich 15 Year Old Solera 2020s (70cl, 40%)
Exemplifying our family’s tradition of innovation, our 15 Year Old expression is created using a technique pioneered by our Malt Master and its warm, spicy flavours are transformed with the alchemy of the Solera Vat.
Uniquely amongst Scotch whisky distillers, our Malt Master matures our Glenfiddich 15 Year Old in three types of oak cask, sherry, bourbon and new oak, to pervade it with rich fruit flavours and distinct spice and honey notes. He then marries it in our unique handcrafted Oregon pine Solera vat, which is always kept at least half full, to give it a beautiful balance and create a deliciously harmonious, consistent and complex whisky that gets increasingly complex over time.
Our Solera system is the culmination of curious minds and the pioneering spirit of our family. It’s also the secret behind this whisky becoming the first 15 year old expression to enter the top ten best selling single malts.
Great for experiencing a premium, mature, rich, silky smooth malt with an intriguingly complex aroma and subtle, sweet layers of sherry oak, marzipan, cinnamon and ginger.

So far the Trade Routes series has included The Spice Road, The Gold Route and The Royal Route. However, there’s a missing link that’s arguably the most collectable of all.
Jan van den Ende , writing for ‘Best Shot Whisky Reviews’ explains, “It is likely that The Adventurer was the first of a new series within The Explorer’s Club Collection. However a law suite was launched by the existing real life Explorer’s Club that included such legendary names as Buzz Aldrin and Sir Ernest Shackleton. The Club funds scientific Research and Education and did not want their name used for commercial purposes without their permission. A judge ruled in favour of the Club in August 2014 which forced Diageo to rethink their strategy with regards to the Explorer’s Club Collection. As a result, the Adventurer has become almost a rarity and a collector’s item despite its humble ambitions.”
Glenfarclas 105 Cask Strength 1L, 60%
Gelenfarclas 105 Cask Strength doesn’t carry an age statement, but there are any suggestions that it is matured for 8-10 years in a combination of both ex-sherry an ex-bourbon barrels. Drying and rich it makes for a superb dram, one the Malt Maniacs rated as the best „Bang for your buck“ whisky in 2004. It is an excellent whisky with aromas of spices, citrus fruits and oloroso sherry. It introduces a world of flavours and make a fiery and strong experience.
Glenfarclas 105 is a superb cask strength whisky, with a history that can be traced to 1968. When the original incarnation was released that year, Glenfarclas became the first distillery to release a barrel proof single malt whisky.
The bottling was eventually re-named to 105, referring to its alcohol content in British Proof, which equates now to 60% ABV.
The 105 doesn’t carry an age statement presently, making it rare among Glenfarclas bottlings. Although, there are suggestions that it is matured for 8-10 years in a combination of both ex-sherry and ex-bourbon barrels.
Drying, assertive and richly spiced, the 105 makes for a superb dram, one the Malt Maniacs rated as the best “Bang for your buck” whisky in 2004. Add a drop of water if you please to explore its depth – and don’t be put off by that ABV, there’s plenty of flavour here to enjoy.

GlenDronach 15 Year Old Revival (70cl, 46%)
The Revival has been revived! The GlenDronach’s 15 Year Old Revival was a much-loved expression, though was sadly discontinued in 2015 by the distillery, citing lack of maturing stocks. However, stocks have been replenished and The GlenDronach 15 Year Old Revival has returned to our shelves! Matured in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks, this stuff is hugely flavoursome, aromatic and complex.
GlenDronach 21 Year Old Parliament 2022 Release (70cl, 48%)
A 21 year old Glendronach released in 2011, and aged in a mix of sherry casks (Oloroso and sweet Pedro Ximenez dessert sherry). The result is really very good indeed. Interestingly enough, this whisky has no political associations. It is, in fact, named “Parliament” after the collective term for a group of rooks – and there is a Parliament of Rooks living in the trees near GlenDronach…

Johnnie Walker Johnnie Blonde 70cl, 40%
JOHNNIE BLONDE WHISKY.
This special edition blend from Johnnie Walker is made with mixing in mind. It’s sweeter than you might expect from the brand, with prominent toffee and fruit notes that bring the best from lemonade, cola and ginger. For the summer of 2020, Johnnie Walker have launched a brighter, sweeter whisky called Johnnie Blonde Blended Scotch Whisky. According to Johnnie Walker, this is one of the most versatile whiskies they’ve ever made. With this whisky, Johnnie Walker have taken bright wheat whiskies which have been matured in sweet American oak. This gives flavours of toffee and caramel, before being brought together with fresher, fruity malt flavours from the whole of Scotland. On the nose the vanilla notes come through strongly, along with toffee and berry aromas. On the palate the sweetness continues, again with sweetened vanilla, apples, and a light spiciness and caramel aromas. The finish on this whisy is smooth, and very light. Perfect Serve. This is a whisky which was made to be versatile, and works in the mix with soda, lemonade, cola or ginger mixers. Try it with a citrus soda, such as Fever-Tree Sicilian Lemonade and you’ll note the sweet, fruity crispness from the whisky comes forward. Try with soda or ginger ale such as Fever-Tree Soda or Ginger Ale and the creamy vanilla notes of the Johnnie Blonde really shine. For any of the above, take a large glass filled with ice and add 50ml of Johnnie Blonde. Top up with 150ml of your chosen mixer, and garnish with a slice of orange.
Johnnie Blonde has been made for curious Scotch lovers and non-whisky drinkers alike. Made to be mixed, it bursts into life with the citrus kick of lemonade, topped with a fresh slice of orange.
Laphroaig Brodir (70cl, 48%)
Laphroaig’s Brodir single malt Scotch whisky was originally released to the Travel Retail market. You can probably guess what ‘Brodir’ means in ancient Norse – of course, it’s ‘Brother’.
For this expression, the Islay distillers first matured the whisky in ex-bourbon barrels before transferring it over to casks which previous held Ruby Port. The combination of Laphroaig’s classic coastal peaty gorgeousness with the elegance of the Ruby Port finish make Brodir a very handsome dram indeed.
Basil Hayden’s Bourbon (1L, 40%)
Basil Hayden’s Bourbon dates back to 1796, when master distiller Basil Hayden used a traditional corn base, but mixed in small grains with the mash. A Kentucky straight bourbon with plenty of rye at its core – plenty spicy, well balanced with herbal notes of peppermint and a touch of fruit.
Johnnie Walker Black Label Triple Cask Edition (1L, 40%)
Johnnie Walker Triple Cask Edition is a sweeter & spicier whiskey from the makers of Johnnie Walker Black Label. This limited edition is crafted from an exceptional selection of malts, with three Speyside malts (Blair Athol, Cardhu and Strathmill) at its heart. The blend is then finished in three types of oak cask (bourbon, sherry and rum) for extra depth and richness flavour. Inspired by the characteristics of Johnnie Walker Black Label, but with more smoke, more sweetness and triple cask finishing.

Dalmore Trio 1L, 40%
An exceptional single malt matured in three equally exceptional casks. Using a three cask maturation, The Dalmore The Trio is a captivating marriage of rare and exceptional casks. The liquid is initially matured in American white oak ex-bourbon casks. This gives its first base of soft vanilla and honey notes. The whisky is apportioned between first fill ex-bourbon casks, 10 year old Tawny port pipes and 30 year old Matusalem sherry casks. The three parts are then brought back together to harmonise.”

Jack Daniels Legacy Edition 3 (70cl, 43%)
We present you the third launch from our limited edition Legacy Series:
a tribute to heritage and experience of Jack Daniel’s in the making of his delicate Old No. 7 Tennesse Whiskey, with the highest quality ingredients and true to our tradition.
Jack knew exactly how to do a really fine and smooth whiskey. I knew that a quality grain would result in the best malt and that cold water, clear and iron free, filtered through of layers of limestone from Tennessee, it would make the amber color of your whiskey shine.
The label you chose to go with it illustrates the high standard of ingredients used and unwavering commitment from Jack for making the best whiskey.

An 18 year old Aultmore launched in 2015 as part of John Dewar & Sons’ Last Great Malts ranges.
Edradour 10 Year Old (70cl, 40%)
Edradour is one of Scotland’s smallest distilleries and at the heart of the range, this 10 year old Eastern Highlander is a rather unique single malt, a decidedly rum-like dram with a thick mouthfeel. The distillery’s methods of production remain virtually unchanged in the last 150 years, and we can see why. If it ain’t broke and all that. This single malt’s decade of ageing was spent in a combination of Oloroso sherry and bourbon casks. This is one sherry monster and we love it.
J&B Rare (5cl, 40%)
Europe’s most popular Scotch whisky. This is a blend of 42 different whiskies, created by J&B, Justerini and Brooks.
Laphroaig 10 Year Old Cask Strength Batch 015 Bot.2021 (70cl, 56.5%)
The only thing between you and the full, uncompromising expression of our most powerful cask strength whisky is the cork. Our Laphroaig 10 Cask Strength is the purest way to experience the taste created by the land, sea and air of Islay. Once removed from the barrel after a decade, the spirit is barrier-filtered to remove unwanted char particles. Then, this cask strength single malt goes straight to the bottle.
The result is a bracing, full-bodied 56.5% vol whisky delivering renowned smoke with a particular rugged character and depths of sweet and spicy flavour. A dram poured neat is lively on the nose with hints of vanilla, pipe tobacco and leather while overwhelming the palate with toffee, fudge and cinnamon. Splashing in a couple drops of water draws out additional peat smoke and notes of sea salt.
The latest batch (#15, no less) of Laphroaig 10 Year Old Cask Strength demonstrates that the Islay distillery is no danger of running out of peaty powerhouses for us to enjoy. This has all the smoky, medicinal, and sweet notes you’ve come to expect and at 56.5% ABV, those flavours don’t exactly hide.
Singleton Glendullan Reserve Game of Thrones House Tully (70cl, 40%)
The ancestral home of House Tully, Riverrun, sits at the junction of the Red Fork of the Trident and the Tumblestone River. The ruling Lord of the Riverlands, House Tully embodies the power and ferocity of the rivers it sits between. Using the power found in their positioning, House Tully forged strong alliances and built a history of honour, family and duty. Built along the banks of the River Fiddich, Glendullan Distillery originally relied on the waters it lay beside, using a water wheel to power the entire distillery. Like the Tullys themselves, this single malt can benefit from a splash of water, opening up flavours of green apple, honey and sweet vanilla.
Johnnie Walker Island Green (1L, 43%)
A dynamic interpretation of our Johnnie Walker Green Label crafted using only Single Malt Whiskies from each of the four corners of Scotland. Johnnie Walker Island Green has all the character of a single malt, but with a richer flavour experience – combining notes of rich toffee, fresh black pepper. The maritime malt whisky Caol Ila provides the greatest influence in this stunning combination of smoke, sweetness and spice.
Glenmorangie Signet (70cl, 46%)
Of course, whilst the exact secrets of its production are known only to our whisky creators, we can tell you that Signet’s melting sweetness and explosive spiciness is, at least in part, caused by our unique roasted ‘chocolate’ barley malt and the ‘designer casks’ made bespoke for Glenmorangie from American white oak. Non chill-filtered
Famous Grouse Naked Malt First Fill Oloroso Sherry Cask 2021 70cl, 40%
Naked Malt is the new name of the Naked Grouse of the Famous Grouse brand. It was created as its own brand to add a sweet and smooth variation to the range of the Famous Grouse Whiskies. The content is the same, even with the new name: The Blended Malt includes Whiskies from Glenturret, Highland Park and Macallan.
First Fill Oloroso sherry cask.
Naked Grouse was first introduced to The Edrington Groups Famous Grouse whisky portfolio (if memory serves me right) around 2011, it was originally launched as a premium sherry rich Scotch Blended Whisky containing a blend of grain and single malt whiskies including two of Edrington’s most renowned single malts, Highland Park and The Macallan.
At that time the new sherry rich Naked Grouse with its first fill sherry cask influence represented quite a significant departure from the usual style of Scotch blended whiskies, but one which caught the interest of normally devout single malt whisky drinkers.
In 2017, Edrington took the Naked Grouse out of The Famous Grouse portfolio and relaunched it as a standalone brand with a very different flavour and personality than its predecessor, the grain whisky had now been removed from the blend and it was now a Blended Malt, containing amongst others, single malts from Edrington’s Highland Park, The Macallan and The Glenrothes distilleries.
The single malts were blended together by Edrington’s Master Blender and then added to the first-fill sherry casks to further marry and mature for at least a further six months, the whisky then went through a final chill-filter before bottling.
The result was Naked Grouse, now a sherry rich Scotch Blended Malt with a buttery toffee scent on the nose which is malty and reminiscent of orchard fruits. On the palate sultanas, rich fudge and cooked apples come through, followed by a finish of soft spice and toasted oak.
Now 2021, Edrington have rebranded Naked Grouse as Naked Malt, which makes sense really as they had already taken it out the The Famous Grouse portfolio back in 2017 although it still carried the Grouse name until now.
There has been no change to the whisky you will find in the bottle with this latest rebranding, it is simply a new name, Naked Malt, which will be presented with a new contemporary look.
Diane Stuart, Naked Malt Master Blender, commented: “Naked Malt is blended using some of the finest Scottish single malts, each selected for its quality and individual flavour. Every cask of Single Malt Scotch whisky selected for our blend is nosed to ensure it meets our exacting standard.
“By extra maturing Naked Malt in first-fill Oloroso sherry casks, we deliver quality and intensity of flavour enviable in the contemporary whisky category. We create the perfect balance of sweet, fruity character from the American oak with the rich, dried fruit and spicy notes from the European oak to produce Naked Malts signature flavour. But what matters most is that you enjoy it whichever way you like.”
Lagavulin 16 Year Old 70cl, 43%
A much sought-after single malt with the massive peat-smoke that’s typical of southern Islay – but also offering richness and a dryness that turns it into a truly interesting tipple. The 16 year old has truly become a benchmark Islay dram from the Lagavulin distillery.

Aromas of orange zest, fresh vanilla, ginger and marzipan fill the nose, complemented by notes of fresh oak, gingerbread, vanilla custard, cinnamon and ginger throughout the palate.
