Black Bottle Double Cask Alchemy Series (70cl, 46.3%)
One of two initial releases in the Black Bottle Alchemy Series, Double Cask brings together malt whiskies finished in Spanish sherry casks with grain whisky aged in red wine casks. Boasting heavy red fruit influence, though well balanced by subtle whiffs of toasted sugar and savoury nuts, this should make for a great late evening dram. A great start to the Black Bottle Alchemy Series, alongside the Island Smoke expression.
Black Bottle Island Smoke Alchemy Series (70cl, 46.3%)
In early 2021, Black Bottle kicked off its Alchemy Series with two tasty whiskies, including this blended Scotch whisky titled Island Smoke (as well as the Double Cask expression)! As you might be able to infer from the name, this is a rather smoky dram – definitely one for the peat fans out there! It offers up whiffs of coastal air, scorched oak, seaweed and more, alongside familiar vanilla-rich sweetness and flashes of spice.
Black Bottle Smoke & Dagger Alchemy Series 70cl, 46.3%
Smoke & Dagger is not messing around when it comes to smoke. This one from the Alchemy Series combines older malts with boisterous young smoke bombs, and even features some recognisable names like Bunnahabhain Moine, as well as the heaviest peated malt in the Black Bottle reserves. For an extra layer of smoke, grain whisky was added to casks that previously held a highly-peated island malt.

Cherry Gin (That Boutique-y Gin Company) (70cl, 46%)
Fruit gins were once all the rage: lemon gin, orange gin, even asparagus gin once graced the shelves of liquor stores the world over. Now, they’re back with The Boutique-y Gin Company Cherry Gin. We’ve taken a Classic Gin and added a combination of sweet and sour marasca cherries, as well as a good pinch of spice. A fun and fruity gin, this is delicious as a sipper, but eminently mixable, too; try it with a splash of cola and a wedge of lime for a taste sensation.
Chivas Regal 18 Year Old Ultimate Cask Collection Japanese Oak Finish (1L, 48%)
Exclusively created for travellers, each drop of this Chivas Regal 18 Year Old Blended Scotch whisky has been finished in First Fill Japanese Oak casks, a rarity even amongst Japanese whiskies. These remarkable casks are made using delicate Japanese Mizunara Oak that are up to 200 years old, making them not only difficult to source but also difficult to work with. The oak imparts wonderfully well-balanced notes of sweet clementine, pears, vanilla and exotic spices. The resulting finish is an intriguing marriage of Scottish complexity and passion with Japanese elegance and refinement.
Chocolate Orange Gin (That Boutique-y Gin Company) (70cl, 46%)
Who doesn’t like a chocolate orange, but we all know the perils of ownership; you could leave it on the parcel shelf in the sun, then even refrigeration won’t save it – all you will have is a congealed, hardened cricket ball of chocolate. But what if there was an answer? Here’s your answer, folks: Chocolate Orange Gin. Made using a mix of classic gin botanicals, orange peel, and cocoa nibs, this is even suitable for those who don’t like milk or milk chocolate.

A delicious, approachable blended Scotch whisky from the folks at Compass Box. The Great King Street range takes its name from their Edinburgh offices. The blend features Clynelish malt matured in first fill bourbon hogshead, a Highland malt blend aged in custom toasted new French oak barrels, malt from Linkwood matured in a sherry butt and a large proportion of Cameronbridge grain whisky aged in first fill American oak barrels.
Compass Box Great King Street Glasgow Blend (70cl, 43%)
Introduced to the Great King Street range by Compass Box in 2014, the Glasgow Blend is a superbly full-bodied blended Scotch whisky. It’s made with 33% Lowland grain whisky and 67% malt whisky from the Highlands, Speyside and Islay, aged in a combination of first-fill and refill ex-bourbon barrels and first-fill Sherry casks, with a small portion being finished in new French oak. Plentiful amounts of Sherried fruit touches surrounding a core of peaty notes – yummers.
Fun note: The label features a picture of The Wellington Statue outside of Glasgow’s Gallery of Modern Art, complete with traffic cone hat, said to be a symbol of the city’s sense of humour.

Compass Box Spice Tree (70cl, 46%)
Compass Box’s delicious Spice Tree was briefly illegitimate, according to SWA regulations. After adjusting its creation, Spice Tree is back, and better than ever. It’s a blended malt made from Highland malt whiskies, aged in specially made casks with new French oak heads.
In April 2015, it was named Best Blended Malt Scotch at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
Compass Box Stranger & Stranger (70cl, 46%)
A very interesting spirit produced by Compass Box in honour of their long term collaborators, design company Stranger and Stranger.
This bottling is technically not a whisky, as it contains 1% “sacrificial spirit”: wheat and barley distillate from Girvan distillery that had been used to season experimental new American oak barrels for a year, before a brief period in refill hogsheads. As it is under 3 years old, it cannot be considered a whisky. Compass Box state that the spirit had an intensely woody character with plenty of vanilla flavour.
The remaining 99% of the blend is taken from Glenlossie, Glen Elgin and Linkwood, with the whisky aged between 17 and 22 years old. Glenlossie provides 80%, drawn from a re-charred Hogshead. 14% is taken from re-charred barrels from Glen Elgin, whilst Linkwood provides just 5%, from a sherry butt.
The whisky is fruity and floral, with powerful notes of honeysuckle, orange blossom, alongside juicy citrus and apples, with some slight cut grass, a hint of mint, burnt sugar, vanilla custard, a touch of sweet wine and sultana, with a faint bright oak sweetness.
Bottled at 46% ABV, and without out chill filtration or colouration, this blend enjoys a full body.
The label is based upon Stranger & Stranger’s logo, altered with their trademark creativity.
Less than 5,000 bottles were released.
