Cognac is a variety of brandy named after the town of Cognac, France. It is produced in the surrounding wine-growing region in the departments of Charente and Charente-Maritime.
Cognac production falls under French appellation d’origine contrôlée designation, with production methods and naming required to meet certain legal requirements. Among the specified grapes, Ugni blanc, known locally as Saint-Emilion, is most widely used.The brandy must be twice distilled in copper pot stills and aged at least two years in French oak barrels from Limousin or Tronçais. Cognac matures in the same way as whiskies and wines barrel age, and most cognacs spend considerably longer “on the wood” than the minimum legal requirement.
Brandy is a spirit produced by distilling wine. Brandy generally contains 35–60% alcohol by volume (70–120 US proof) and is typically drunk as an after-dinner digestif. Some brandies are aged in wooden casks. Others are coloured with caramel colouring to imitate the effect of aging, and some are produced using a combination of both aging and colouring. Varieties of wine brandy can be found across the winemaking world. Among the most renowned are Cognac and Armagnac from southwestern France.
In a broader sense, the term brandy also denotes liquors obtained from the distillation of pomace (yielding pomace brandy), or mash or wine of any other fruit (fruit brandy). These products are also called eau de vie (which translates to “water of life”).

Aged for 5 years, this is a delicious grape brandy from Yerevan’s Ararat range. It was made in Armenia with select wines and pure spring water.

Asbach Spezialbrand is a German brandy. It has been stored for a minimum of 12 years in oak barrels. It is dark gold in colour with a hint of red. Aroma of jasmine mixed with citrus and vanilla tones and a scent of green apple. Elegant and fresh on the palate, well rounded with a slight sweetness and hints of bitterness. Long and smooth finish.
Asbach 8 Year Old is a popular rich, spicy German brandy which has been matured in small French Limousin oak casks. The company has won many awards for their brandies, including a Gold at the 2013 World Spirit Awards for the 8 year old expression.

The collection of vintage armagnacs Armagnac 1948 belongs to a number of prestigious Chabot armagnacs, the oldest of which dates back to 1888. These are very unique armagnacs, mixed exclusively from the eau-de-vie of a given year. Armagnac includes a gift tube and a product certificate.

This traditional XO with a modern design is a celebration of both old and new, a new and exciting experience in the present that simultaneously pays its respects to the past. This elegant XO releases aromas of sweet vanilla, ripe green fruits with some delicate earthy tones punctuating the sweet and fruity notes, a perpetual play between fruit and oak.
On the palate, the warming sensation of spices only serves to enhance and lift the sweet and exotic vanilla, complemented by notes of hazelnut and quince. Accents of fig tart and blonde tobacco also present themselves on the palate in a long and lingering finish. Hine Rare VSOP is a blend of Grande and Petite Champagnes (60% is the former). This is what’s known as a Fine Champagne. The cognac is aged from between 6 and 12 years, with most being around 8 years old. It is a stunning cognac with an excellent delivery. It was first blended by the eponymous Thomas Hine.
